The team of General Duty Assistants (GDAs) at Kailash Hospital assists in all kinds of the basic care of patients under the direction of nurses, physicians & doctors. A GDA or Aaya provides professional care and supervision in supportive as well as protective healthcare environments to patients requiring all basic care. A GDA helps inpatient care by maintaining a suitable healthcare environment as well as by providing personal hygiene like cleaning, feeding, cloth changing, monitoring medicine intake, and several other daily living requirements by providing comfort at the hospital and even in transportation. He/ she also shares the patient’s concerns with the doctor and works extensively in ensuring the patient is comfortable and gets accurate treatment. It is said that GDA sets a daily routine for himself/ herself to reduce the burden on patients as well as doctors.
From managing the front office and handling emergency services, a GDA also checks the prescription and ensures if there’s any specific requirement from the patient. A GDA’s role is also to assist the nurse or doctor in sample collection, labelling, and ensuring that it is delivered to the lab on time. Among other duties, a GDA also assists in doing the following self-care activities:
